Calloway County, Ky.–At approximately 6:30pm Tuesday, Calloway County 911 Communications Center dispatched Calloway County Fire & Rescue out to the 2800 block of Cook Store Trail in the Kirksey community for a report of a vehicle on fire. Upon arrival of our fire personnel, it could be seen a vehicle fully involved on fire in a driveway. CCFR firefighters began quickly extinguishing the fire without incident.
The owner of the vehicle was located at the residence who stated they just returned home when the vehicle started smoking from the hood but was not on fire; they parked the vehicle away from their residence for safety concerns. When they went back to the vehicle to get items out of it that had been left, they found it on fire. Thankfully no injuries were reported nor any damage to other property since it was parked away from any structures.
CCFR responded with 2 pumpers, 1 tanker and a support truck with 9 firefighters who were on the scene for just under one hour before returning to service.
