Savannah, Tenn.–Hardin County Firefighters rescued the boat operator after a fire destroyed his boat on the Tennessee River this morning.

The Hardin County Fire Department was called to the boat fire at 8:43 a.m. just north of Savannah on the river.

Fire officials said, “Thankfully the operator was not injured and was able to jump into the water and was rescued by our fire department boat. He was not wearing a life jacket and was extremely exhausted when rescued. Remember to always wear a life jacket. Be careful on the river this weekend since the river is close to flood stage with strong currents!”
